Areca Palm

Nothing says tropical and lush quite like a palm. The Areca Palm (Dypsis lutescens) is a gorgeous plant native to Madagascar and now naturalized throughout the world. Outdoors it can reach 39 feet tall while indoors its maximum height is 8 feet. It is also one of the top air purifying plants making it perfect for your home or office.

AKA: Golden Cane Palm, Yellow Palm, Butterfly Palm

Light: Medium to bright indirect light. Direct light will burn the fronds. Tolerates some low light but growth will slow.

Watering: Water when top 1 inch of soil is dry. Water slowly and evenly until it comes out of the drainage hole; discard excess to avoid root rot.

Humidity: Prefers warm temperatures and average home humidity to high humidity.

Toxicity: Non toxic to cats, dogs and humans.

Potting Mix: Regular and well draining.

Additional Care: Dust leaves regularly with a damp cloth. This palm enjoys a morning mist. Trim off yellow or dried out fronds.
