Sansevieria

Sansevieria are one of the easiest and most beautiful plants to care for. The most common is Sansevieria trifasciata which is native to West Africa. In its natural habitat it can grow up to 6 feet tall and 4 feet indoors. Sansevieria are also one of the top oxygen producing and air purifying plants. It is recognized by its scale like patterned leaves as well as its stiff sword like shape.

AKA: Snake Plant, Mother-in-Law’s Tongue

Light: This plant is pretty much happy anywhere. It does well in low light but will do best in medium to bright light.

Watering: The most common killer of this plant is root rot caused by soggy soil from too much water. Allow them to completely dry out and go without water for several weeks in between watering. Water even less often during the cooler winter months, about once a month.

Humidity: Tolerant to dry air and drafts but will also do well with more humidity (ex: in a bathroom).

Toxicity: Toxic to cats, dogs and humans.

Potting Mix: Loose and well draining. A cactus or succulent mix will work well.

Additional Care: They can be very top heavy so plant in a heavier pot.
