String Of Pearls

The string of pearls (Senecio rowleyanus / Curio rowleyanus), is a beautiful low maintenance succulent vine named for its small pearl shaped and sized leaves. Each leaf has been modified to store water and each has a transparent line called an epidermal window. This allows light to reach the inside of the leaf, increasing the surface area available for photosynthesis. It is native to southwest Africa and grows in dense mats on the ground. Indoors it is usually in a hanging planter with the vines reaching 2-3 feet long.

Humidity: Does not need extra humidity.

Toxicity: Toxic to cats, dogs and humans.

Potting Mix: Fast-draining and fast-drying porous mix.

Additional Care: Requires fast-draining soil to avoid root rot.
